Öğe Ethical Climate's Mediating Role on the Relationship Between Emotional Intelligence and Job Satisfaction(Emerald Group Publishing Ltd, 2022) Pekkan, Nazmiye Ulku; Bicer, MehmetPurpose: The purpose of this article is to determine the effects of emotional intelligence (EI) on job satisfaction and to examine whether ethical climate has a mediating role in this effect. Methodology: The study was conducted among employees of sales organizations in the automotive industry. Relationships between variables were determined by correlation and bootstrap regression analysis with data from 127 participants. Findings: The results revealed that emotional intelligence shows statistically positive and significant relationships with job satisfaction and ethical climate. Moreover, positive correlation was determined between ethical climate and job satisfaction. The most important result is the decrease of the effect of emotional intelligence on job satisfaction in the triple relationship that includes ethical climate. The findings indicated that the relationship between emotional intelligence levels and employees' perception of organizational ethical climate weakened their impact on job satisfaction.Öğe Predicting the entrepreneurial intention: A moderated mediation model(Inderscience Enterprises Ltd., 2020) Pekkan, Nazmiye Ulku; Sisman, GulsahThe purpose of the study is to determine both the mediation effect of self-efficacy and the moderated effect of the length of time spent for starting to earn money by coaching on the relationship between social intelligence and entrepreneurial intention. The research was tested on 175 participants who have professional coaching certificate that is accredited by the International Coach Federation (ICF). This study was conducted based on the entrepreneurial opportunity identification and development theory. According to the result of the research, a large part of the relation between social intelligence and entrepreneurial intention is positively explained through self-efficacy. Furthermore, it was indicated that the relation between self-efficacy and entrepreneurial intention of the participants who earn money by coaching after deserving the certificate in a shorter time was stronger. However, there is no study in the literature examining the relationship between organizational identification and social intelligence. Grounded in the Strong Ties Approach the object of study is to explore the relationship between social intelligence and organizational identification. Besides, the study aimed to determine whether the level of social intelligence and organizational identification vary or not according to the sector type. The study was designed with a quantitative research pattern and correlational research design. The sample is consisting of 306 public and private sector employees. The survey technique with a convenience sampling method was used to collect the data. The obtained data were investigated through statistical analysis software. Social intelligence was considered both as a whole and with its dimensions named as social information processing, social skills, and social awareness. According to the regression analysis results; social intelligence as a whole and social skills have a significant and positive contribution to predicting organizational identification. However, the effect of social information processing and social awareness on organizational identification is not significant. Moreover, independent samples t-test suggests that the social intelligence and social skills levels of private sector employees are higher than the same factor levels of the public sector. However, the level of employees' social information processing, social awareness, and organizational identification does not differ according to the sector type. This study provides new insights into the impact of career satisfaction on performance through a multi-dimensionality approach, and a mediator variable. Objective. The aim of this study is to determine the relationship between career satisfaction, personal growth initiative, task performance, and contextual performance. Method. The research was designed with a quantitative and correlational method. Data were collected from 213 public and private sector employees working in different cities and occupational groups in Turkey. Hypotheses of the research were tested by bootstrapping regression analysis performed with 5000 derivative samples. Results. Career satisfaction contributes positively to explaining personal growth initiative, task performance, and contextual performance. Besides, the personal growth initiative makes a positive contribution to explaining task performance and contextual performance. In addition, the most important finding of the study is that personal growth initiative positively mediates the effect of career satisfaction on task performance and contextual performance. Another original output of the study is the adaptation of task performance and contextual performance scales used in the research into Turkish. Conclusion. In order to fulfill the requirements of the changing business life, employees must first be aware of their own needs, give importance to their personal development to meet these needs, and be on a career path where they will feel satisfied. On the other hand, managers should implement various approaches that will understand their employees' career and personal development expectationsÖğe Understanding the Linkage between Social Capital and Work Alienation: A Mediation Model of Self-Efficacy(Pacific Inst Management, 2020) Pekkan, Nazmiye Ulku; Cavus, Mustafa FedaiIn this study, it was aimed to determine the effect of social capital and self-efficacy on work alienation and the mediation role of self-efficacy in the relation between social capital and work alienation. Depending on the purpose of the research, first a large literature search was made on concepts and theoretical background was given. Then, the first-hand data collection technique was preferred and the survey technique was applied to the employees of public hospitals operating in the health sector in Turkey. The data collected from 462 participants was used in the analysis of the study. As a result of the study, it was found that social capital and self-efficacy have a negative and significant relationship on work alienation. In addition, it was found that the relationship between social capital and work alienation was influenced by the self-efficacy variable, and self-efficacy had a partial mediation role in this relationship.
