Öğe Workplace Psychological Intimidation Behaviors Encountered by Midwives and Nurses([TR] Hemşirelikte Araştırma Geliştirme Derneği, 2011) Yurdakul, Mine; Türkleş, Serpil; Vefikuluçay-yılmaz, Duygu; Çelik, Tülin; Şahin, Mürşide; Özcan, AyşeObjective: This study was carried out to determinerunning midwives and nurses’ workplacepsychological intimidation behaviors comparedwith the situation, suffering psychologicalintimidation behaviors across responses andsuffering psychological intimidation behaviors toreduce or prevent an attempt MediterraneanRegion in the center of city hospitals in theprovince.Methods: The sample of the study consists of 442midwives and nurses working MediterraneanRegion in the center of city hospitals in theprovince. Midwives and nurses included in thesample were selected by the cluster and stratifiedsampling method. Data was collected by“Workplace Psychologically Violence BehaviorsInstrument” and by the data collection form.Results: According to the research, 27.4% ofmidwives and 20.7% of nurses were subject toworkplace psychological intimidation behaviors.It is found that midwives and nurses are subjectto “humiliating and insulting speech amongothers” most 65.4% and this behavior ispracticed by doctors, patient’s relative andadministrators at a high rate. The research hasshown that the reactions of midwives and nursesagainst workplace psychological intimidationbehaviors are generally physical and emotional. Conclusions: Approximately one of every fivenurses and midwives are exposed to workplacepsychological intimidation behaviors. Midwivesand nurses stated that to reduce and to preventthe workplace psychological intimidationbehaviors have made generally positiveinitiatives like talking with relevant person faceto face to trying to their problem solve
