Özet

Occidentalism, which can also be defined as the way that the East perceives the West and the ideas it produces on the West, is to discuss, compare and present the Western. Progressed with common expansions in the same line, the concept is based on the interpretation of the West as a field of knowledge and experience. This can be ascribed to a combination away from anti-Western hostility and a willingness to learn that does not ignore criticism. Containing the reflections of the political and social environment after the proclamation of Constitutional the Second, Yeni Turan was published in 1912 with its fiction focusing on discussions about Turanism, decentralization and the West in the Ottoman Empire, which was trying to modernize. In this study, teh novel Yeni Turan will be read through the concept of occidentalism, and the occidentalist discourse style, which considers not the separation between the East and the West but the harmony and benefit, which the author has absorbed into the fiction, will be analyzed. © 2023 Hacettepe University 1.
