Özet
This study aimed to analyze immigrant children's tendency to develop civic literacy skills as they have been rebuilding their lives since their immigration in the past decade, starting from 2011. Considered within the skills of the 21st century, civic literacy refers to certain dimensions of civic participation. This study was based on the interviews conducted with 10 immigrant children who were secondary school students continuing their education in Turkey. The texts they wrote after the content presented to them in the interviews were analyzed by document analysis method. The immigrant children's perceptions of civic participation and civic literacy, and the impact of the current education system on this perception, were evaluated through a document analysis form. As a consequence, it was aimed to present a critical evaluation of the social positions of those students participating in the research as concerns becoming a citizen of a new society, in which they are in the process of being integrated, as well as about sharing the same future and exercising the rights of citizenship. © 2023, IGI Global.
