Öğe EFFICIENCY EVALUATIONS OF RAILWAYS USING RELATIONAL NETWORK DATA ENVELOPMENT ANALYSIS(Univ Cincinnati Industrial Engineering, 2023) Ergul, Figen; Akcan, Serap; Yuregir, Oya HacireThe rate of increase in the world population has caused the rapid growth and differentiation of transportation systems. Therefore, it is becoming increasingly important for transportation systems to provide safe, faster, and less expensive transportation. The present study analyzed the efficiency of 14 European and Turkish railways selected from the International Union of Railways database using data from between 2000 and 2017. The system, production, and consumption process activities of these 14 railways were estimated using Relational Network Data Envelopment Analysis and interpreted with performance matrices. Significant variables affecting production, consumption, and system activities were identified by Tobit Regression Analysis. The most important variables affecting system efficiency were found to be passenger and freight train occupancy rates, gross national income per capita, and population density.Öğe Measuring Customer Purchasing Behavior based on Apriori Algorithm for Creating an Efficient Marketing Strategy(2023) Akcıl, Murat; Akcan, SerapDue to technological developments and competitive conditions, it is becoming more and more important to gain customers and keep them. Association rules are one of the methods used effectively to determine which products and services are more important and preferred by customers together. The aim of this study is to determine the types of patterns purchased by a company operating in the forest products sector, using the data of decor paper, which affects the cost the most, is used extensively in production and is difficult to plan. This study was carried out with the Apriori algorithm in WEKA, which is widely used in association analysis. It is thought that the association rules obtained from this study will enable the firm to determine the purchasing behaviors of its customers by revealing the overseas model trends and associations. In addition, this study will shed light on the company at the stage of determining the marketing strategy of the company.Öğe Using Bigdata for Choosing the Right Forecasting Method, Dataset and Period in a Time Series Analysis(2024) Akcan, Serap; Akcıl, Murat; Özşahin, MetinNowadays especially production companies gathering a huge data due to their daily transactions on the own systems. Production companies should handle this raw data as handling the raw materials too. Today, scientific studies carried out for this purpose are gathered under the title of BigData. The BigData creates many helps to companies’ competitive advantages according to their competitors. For this view, the purpose of this study was to determine the best demand forecasts method and forecasting period by using BigData at forest production industry. Using the time series analysis module of the WEKA program, the algorithm and data set providing the most accurate estimate for each of the selected decor papers were determined. As a result, it is thought that this study will provide a route map for about choosing right data period and forecasting method for the forest products.
